Our Story

The "Kanya Klean" idea started with the summer visits to my parents' ancestral hometown in India. This district, where my family hails from, is a naturally stunning place with its greenery, beaches and remarkable history.

During our visit, we unfortunately noticed that the stunning landscapes and monuments were filled with litter. The natural beauty of the town was overshadowed by the discarded trash and unsanitary conditions.

We wondered why the district was in the state it was in and found out that the town struggled with limited resources and inadequate infrastructure to maintain proper sanitation levels. We decided that it would not be enough to solely rely on the local governmental agencies to address these underlying problems.

So, from that moment our idea was born. Out of a mission to involve and inspire local schools, colleges, private businesses and other volunteer agencies to participate in clean up drives to make their local surroundings cleaner, livable and beautiful.

Our plan is to organize, coordinate and fund these clean up drives. We are hopeful that our story will inspire the local communities to join us in restoring the natural and stunning beauty of the land.
